To the West

The scenic coast road to the west, takes you through the village of Abbotsbury, with a swannery and tropical gardens, then on towards the market town of Bridport and lively harbour of West Bay.

Slightly inland, is the monument erected in memory of Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy of HMS Victory fame, which is worth a detour for the splendid views alone.

Further along the coast, fossils can be found at Charmouth, whilst The Cobb at Lyme Regis was made famous by the novel and film of 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'.
