There are many pleasant places to wander in Weymouth especially around the harbour and the old stone pier or the Nothe Fort and gardens. The Georgian seafront hosts all the traditional pastimes with Punch and Judy, roundabouts and swings and of course the wonderful golden sands. There are more attractions at Lodmoor country park, The Sea Life Centre, Greenhill Gardens and the RSPB Nature Reserve at Radipole Park Drive.
The Isle of Portland is connected to the mainland by the long Chesil Bank with its own wildlife centre. The causeway continues past the Sailing Academy, where Olympic sailing events took place in 2012.
Portland Castle, lighthouse and bird observatory, are worth a visit, whilst the coastline itself is invigorating, with a interesting sculpture park and many pleasant walks
